Natig Shirinov began his career in Azerbaijan but has traveled world-wide and is acknowledged as one of the best Qoltuq nagara players in the world. He called together a Rhythm Group (Natig Rhythm Group) which has performed in numerous venues over the past decade.
Natig has been recognized and sought after, both as a soloist and with his Rhythm Group, for more than a decade in numerous places and venues. Among his many achievements with the Qoltuq nagara are:
In 2007 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Azerbaijan by the President of Azerbaijan
Also in 2007, he was invited by renowned singer Sevda Alekperzade to accompany her on her recording: “A Flower in Bloom”
In 2008-2009 he worked with singer Sevda Alekperzadeh to accompany her on her recording “World of Love” and went on tour with her, performing concerts in Austria, Germany, and Romania.
In 2008 the Natig Rhythm Group joined with the Azerbaijani State Dance Ensemble to perform at the grand opening of the The Eurovision Song Contest held in Azerbaijan and including performers from all across Central Asia.
In 2011 the Natig Rhythm Group was awarded the Grand Prix Award at the Geumsan World Percussion Performance Art Festival.
In 2011-2012 the Natig Rhythm Group headlined the Royal Belum World Drums Festival in Malaysia.
In 2012, the Natig Rhythm Group was a featured performer for the live televised opening and closing ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan.
Also in 2012 the Natig Rhythm Group was the opening act for world superstar Rihanna at her concert in Baku, Azerbaijan
In 2012 and 2014 Natig performed and gave master classes at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
In 2015 the Natig Rhythm Group performed in the opening ceremonies of the inaugural European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
